Living In An Upside Down World

Writer's picture: William IrelandWilliam Ireland

It seems that the world has gone crazy. The economy has people stressed out and discouraged. For the Christian, our hope is in the assurance of God.

Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: (Jude 1)

To those that are:

1 - SANCTIFIED: Τοῖς ἐν Θεῷ = those in God through the love which led Christ, in procuring human salvation, to undergo sufferings and death. to have a preference for, wish well to, regard the welfare of

We are (through Jesus) IN GOD, set apart from those not in Jesus. When the world seems to be overwhelming, remember your position. You are on the winning team! This has nothing to do with merit, wealth, or social status. It has everything to do with accepting God's free gift that changed our status in spite of what we deserve.

2 - PRESERVED: to keep i. e. cause one to persevere or stand firm in a thing. keep, guard, observe, watch over. Used in Matt. 27:54 "Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God."

What were they doing with Jesus? They were standing guard! Can you think of any Army that can stand watch over your soul better than God?

3 - CALLED: called, invited, summoned by God to an office or to salvation. "invited (by God in the proclamation of the gospel) to obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom of God through Christ"

God knows our weaknesses. God knows our failures, both past, present, and future. He loves us in spite of ourselves.

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:6

Yes, the world does seem to be upside down, but be encouraged through God's Word.
